Anchor Academy Newsletter

December 2009

 Dear Friends,

Greetings from the Anchor Academy.  Wow, this year has gone by fast.  In the last several months, we have taken in six new students.  Please pray for Taylor from CA, Jack from FL, Drew from OH, Scott from ID, Edwin from IL, and Brandon from MS that they will allow the Lord to manifest His power in their lives.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration with lots of food and fellowship.  After the meal we had our annual egg drop contest and football game.  We certainly have a lot to be thankful for.  For pictures click here.

Our learning center received “Quality Status” from Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) this year.  The award is given for academic achievement among the student body.  The collective GPA for the 2007-2008 year was 91.27%.  I appreciate the hard work of both the students and school staff for earning this award.

Brother Dennis recently took the staff and students to Elephant Rocks State Park and Meramec Caverns.  This trip was a reward for all their hard work during the summer.  The guys enjoy getting out in nature and expending some energy.  They also love to load up on our MCI bus and go somewhere new.  We have put 500,000 miles on that old bus since 1999.

We just finished our seasonal work at the Vanduser Cotton Gin.  As many of you know, the young men work in the gin during the fall and have the opportunity to earn money and develop work ethic.  They love the work, and it is very satisfying to leave the academy with money in their pocket.  More teenagers need to be exposed to the agricultural world.

Three young men trusted Christ for salvation in a recent chapel service.  I had the privilege of baptizing them on a Sunday morning.  I look forward to seeing them grow spiritually.  Brother Dennis always says, “Man can change the outside, but only God can change the heart.”  Thank God for His transforming work of grace.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support.  We are your missionaries to teens in crises.  Have a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year.

Sincerely,

Trevor Spencer, Pastor
