Anchor Academy Newsletter
January 2009
Dear Friends,
Greetings from the Anchor Academy. We have experienced a major ice storm here in S.E. Missouri. Broken tree limbs, telephone poles, and power lines are strewn everywhere. The whole region was without power for about a week, and some communities are still down at the time of this writing. Thankfully, we have backup generators to keep the heat and lights on when disasters like this occur. Our academy will be heavily involved in the clean up effort, and hopefully we can be a blessing.
Other than the storm, things are going pretty good. We finished out 2008 with a very fun Christmas and New Years. Evangelist Justin Cox came and preached a series of services. We always enjoy having him here. During Christmas break we took the young men to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO and had a blast. We also had a watch night service on New Year’s Eve and started 2009 on our knees in prayer.
We have taken in three new students recently. Please pray for Ben from MO, Dylan from NC, and Ivan from IL, that they will let the Lord work mightily in their lives. This brings our count up to 25. We have also been busy with various construction projects. The office has new doors and looks very nice. Now all we need is some good furniture.
As of January the Anchor Academy is 10 years old. It is hard to believe that one decade has past since Bro. Dennis and I took in our first student. Approximately 400 young men have passed through the ministry since, each staying for 12 months or more. The staff have worked hard to help each one get caught up in school, reconcile with family, build character, and lay a firm foundation of Scripture. There have been hardships along the way, but also an innumerable host of blessings. Many people have trusted Christ as their Savior.
In honor of our 10 year anniversary, we are collecting testimonials and/or words of appreciation to be added to a scrap book. So, if the Anchor has touched your life in some way would you send in a quick letter telling us about it? We look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.
