Anchor Academy Newsletter
August 2009
Dear Friends,
This year we celebrated our tenth high school graduation here at the Anchor Academy. Many friends of the ministry came to be part of the two day celebration. The graduation service was held in our newly remolded auditorium, and Pastor Don Strange from Ft. Meyers, FL brought a challenging message to the seniors and their families. Some of the seniors have opted to stay at the Anchor for a while longer. We are happy to invest our time into these bright young leaders.
In the last two months we have taken in two new students. Please pray for Jesse from TX, and Seth from OR that they will allow the Lord to work mightily in their lives. We are also blessed to have a new staff member, Lucas Chouinard, from Riverview Baptist Church in Pasco, WA. Brother Lucas will be working with the Anchor Men’s Center, our ministry for men 17 and older. Please call for more information about the AMC.
We are thrilled with the new auditorium at Anchor Baptist Church. Drive in attendance has been steady and seven people have been saved and baptized. The auditorium has seating for 120 people and really good acoustics. Our thanks goes out to all you who helped us purchase the new chairs!
The Anchor Academy garden produced ten semi truck loads of watermelons this year. Brother Isaiah Ueland has done a great job overseeing it. The sale of the watermelons goes to help with the ministry finances. In addition, we are boxing and sorting melons for a local farmer. This job provides some good training in work ethic for the young men and allows them to earn some extra money.
The years seem to fly by when you are in the ministry. In ten years the Anchor Academy has moved three times, ministered to over 400 young men most of whom trusted Christ for salvation, helped many parents, built numerous buildings, traveled in 45 states, Mexico, and Canada, and sung in over 200 churches. I believe our greatest days are ahead.
Our post-modern culture continues to leave in its wake a multitude of teenagers - insecure, defiant, and lost. We are glad to provide a place that gives them a second chance. Without your prayers and financial support our work would not be possible. May the Lord Bless You.
