Anchor Academy Newsletter

June 2009

Dear Friends,

Greetings from the Anchor Academy.  Every year it is shocking to me how hot and humid it gets here in S.E. Missouri.  I definitely appreciate air-conditioned buildings.  In spite of the heat, we have been hard at work on our auditorium remodel.  When completed it will seat 120 and have new carpet, chairs, paint, lighting, and good AC.  It will also be equipped with a church bookstore, a sound booth, a baptistry with changing rooms, a prayer room, storage, a projector, and a baby grand piano donated by a friend of the ministry.

We are currently tending to 12 acres of watermelons and 2 acres of various vegetables like tomatoes, corn, okra, green beans, and squash.  The young men have been actively involved in maintaining this garden under the direction of Brother Isaiah Ueland.  Most of the watermelons will be sold to help with the financial needs of the ministry.  I am looking forward to breaking open a giant melon on a hot day.

Please pray for our three newest students: Nathan from MT, Arturo from IL, and Chris from WA that they will allow the Lord to work mightily in their lives.  We are glad to welcome back Brother Josh Boals to our staff family.  Brother Josh is a 2003 graduate of the Anchor and has returned to serve as a dorm and school staff.   There are now 13 full time staff members here at the ministry.  I praise God for their hard work and dedication.

We have heard lots of excellent preaching in the last few months.  The following guest speakers have come to our church: Evangelist Justin Cox, James Ortiz (Missionary to Nepal), Nathan Haifley (Missionary to jails and prisons), and Evangelist Alan Jones.  We have also been able to travel to a camp meeting in Tennessee and Campbell, MO to hear some excellent preaching.  The Word of God changes lives!

Our Anchor Academy graduation is right around the corner (July 10th), and the senior class of 2009 is working hard to finish up their PACEs.  These young men have great potential, and I have seen each of them grow tremendously since coming to the Anchor.  Please keep them and their families in your prayers.  Thanks for your friendship and support.  May the Lord Bless You.

Sincerely,

Trevor Spencer, Pastor
